Based on the Salem Witch Hunts, this realistic, but fictional novel-in-verse is told from the points of view of the girls who made the accusations that led to the trials and, in some cases, executions of several innocent people. Motivated by jealousy, peer pressure, the need for attention, and straight-up teenage angst, this clique of especially nasty mean girls lashes out at their neighbors and fights amongst themselves. Soon, events and accusations spiral out of control. Each girl tells in her own words how she is effected by these events. The verdict is in: This book is excellent! Highly disturbing, but excellent!
