Absolutely wonderful, creepy, suspenseful, surprising - just when you think you know what happened, you're wrong. You lose characters you don't expect to lose. You don't know who to trust. And the ending was unexpected in several ways.

Anyone who has read Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series (or seen the TV show) knows that Jane (Rizzoli) is the cop and Maura (Isles) is the medical examiner. Maura is off at a conference in Wyoming, wondering what to do about her relationship with Daniel Brophy (a priest). While there, she meets a colleague that she knew way back in medical school. On the spur of the moment she decides to go off skiing with him, his daughter, and his two friends, Arlo and Elaine.

All goes well until a bad snowstorm wrecks them and they are forced to take shelter in a valley with ten cabins. There's no electricity, no people, no cell phone bars, - just cabins with food still on the table, but no one around.

What follows is a roller coaster ride - nothing is what it seems. No one is what they seem. And yet the ending makes total sense - there are no loose ends. Instead she sets up some scenarios that could reappear in the future. A great read, especially for fans of the series.
