I am typically not a Dean Koontz fan but “Odd Thomas was recommended to me so I gave it a shot. Turns out this book was great, even if you’re not an avid Koontz reader.

Odd Thomas is a short order cook in a small town, Pico Mundo who is able to see and communicate with the dead but also foresees crimes. He uses this gift he for the common good and only a handful of people know about his ability. One is the police chief, who sometimes works with Odd to solve crimes.

There were two aspects of this novel I wasn’t completely satisfied with. The first is when Odd takes place in a scene that includes a dark room there is never a follow up in the remainder of the novel. The second is the ending which saddened me but I suppose it was appropriate.

I still enjoyed the book quite a bit.
