Thanksgiving is coming up and Mr. Parakeet has been asked to appear on Zooey Bonjour's cooking show to bake his special pumpkin pie. Zooey Bonjour and Alex Parakeet's grandmother work on the cooking show together, so Zooey accompanies Grandmother on a visit at the Parakeet's home. News of Zooey's arrival inspires everyone coming to dinner to prepare their own specialty for the chef to taste in hopes of earning a spot on her show. A chaotic meal ensues when Luau the cat dives into food and knocks both food and Dad's recipe binder askew. When order is restored, the special pumpkin pie recipe Dad will use for his appearance on the show is missing and he can't remember the "secret ingredient." Alex and Yasmeen, the sleuths of Chickadee Court, are called in to locate the missing recipe before Dad has to cancel his TV appearance.
