** spoiler alert ** I loved Memoirs of a geisha and found that even though it was not written by a person of Japanese descent it was a good story that won me over with its great narrative detail, I felt like I was right there beside Sayuri through everything that happened to her from the beginning where her mother is diagnosed with a deathly disease to when she and her sister are sold to be taken care of in Gion, far away from there home to when Sayuri's sister runs away to when Sayuri starts the process of becoming a geisha/japanese artist/entertainer and then all the problems that come in her life while working as a geisha until the man she loved all her life died and she ended up living in NYC. I am now desiring to watch the movie to compare between the book and the movie. Definitely would reread.
