~*~SPOILER ALERT~*~

This book was so bad I couldn't even finish it. I couldn't even get past the second chapter. Quit ruining your perfectly good series by adding more books, LJ Smith. You managed to suck out every ounce of fun from your characters by wrapping them in this vacuous cloud of vague emotions(?) and a plot(?) that relies more on wistful gazes and rough sketches of movement than on any actual conflict. Can you please explain to me how Caroline - ranting and raving and COMPLETELY POSSESSED BY SATAN - can walk into a room full of your supposedly "intelligent" characters, and NO ONE EVEN NOTICES SOMETHING'S WRONG?? "Oh, that's just Caroline being Caroline. She's kind of a bitch." No one get up and actually follow her, guys. I'm sure she's just going home to get some Midol, NOT TO SATAN'S LAIR.

Also, you have committed the cardinal sin of vampire novels, BY INTRODUCING FAIRIES AS AN ANTAGONIST. Vampires are big, bad, and scary. Fairies are not. There is no rivalry between them, because vampires would eat fairies for breakfast if they would stop giggling and flitting around long enough. You. Fail.

But this isn't your gravest sin, LJ Smith. Oh no. Not by half. Your greatest sin is that you have completely eliminated ANY hope of Damon/Elena or even Stefan/Elena sexual tension by gleefully informing us that your vampires cannot have sex. YOU, MADAM, HAVE MISSED THE POINT OF VAMPIRES.

Blaise No sex? Really? Ever? Oh wow, I think I just lost a brain cell to that.

Mariafernanda I agree... It was really terrible. I even felt kind of disgusted

message 6: by Karuna (new)

Karuna Apparently because Elena is now even more super speshul drinking her blood gives vampires virility. But yeah, still super weird.
