This book had an effectively detached narrative style that reflected exactly how closed off and alone each of the characters feel in the modern world. Interesting meditation on what a vacation is and the secret selves we all hide from other people in our lives. It's all about our modern quest to find something somewhere that makes us feel whole and happy and how impossible it is to find that missing piece. Essentially it's about a terrible husband who stalks his crazy cold wife while she stalks a stranger. This leads the husband to take a "vacation" in Nicaragua to find the stranger and confront the stranger about his relationship with his wife.
