** spoiler alert ** Another audio book and the first Stephen King novel I've read. I thought I saw the movie, but I must have confused it with something else.

Guess I'm late to the game, but this was great. Even though it was a novella, it felt longer than the full length novels I've read recently. I guess because it was so rich and detailed. You could see the research that was done. In fact it's hard not to believe he didn't do some first hand investigation of a prison. I wonder if he's said. I'll have to look.

I was thinking about the metaphor here. It feels a lot like his road to sucess or "freedom" that he described in On Writing, chipping away at that prison wall day after day, year after year. Not knowing if you'll ever break through, but doing it because you love it. And that love keeps you from walking around with dead eyes.

Great book. I'll definitely read more.

Linda That was really well put. I think if you read more of King you will not be disappointed. He wrote some outstanding short stories. This is actually one I haven't read this one. You have me intrigued....
