** spoiler alert **
This was definitely a 4 1/2 stars book! I do have to admit that this book caused my emotions to go up and down like a roller coaster. I really loved the heroine because of how strong she was and how her love for Jason broke all of his barriers. The hero however... it did take some time for me to truly appreciate the guy. I liked him in the beginning, not in the middle, but definitely in the end.
During the course of the book, I truly despised Jason because of how he treated Victoria. But of course, he redeemed himself in the end-- like all heroes do huh? I also got frustrated with Victoria as well (but that's just solely based on my opinion). When Jason told her that he wanted a son from her and that he didn't love her, my heart slowly broke for Victoria. There's a lot of deep emotions coming from this book and I can honestly say that I teared up at a few. We know for a fact that Jason was betrayed by his wife awhile back and he lost everyone he loved, had a bad childhood and yada yada. I guess that's why it took awhile for him to finally break through all of that trauma and begin truly loving "once and always."
There was definitely a whole lot of drama going on as well. With the issue of Victoria's ex-betrothed Andrew, Charles, and the issue of Jason not being able to trust anyone even though I did understand his situation. I just hate how he basically jumps to ridiculous conclusions whenever Victoria is involved. Overall, I did like this book and I almost rated it a 5 star because of how sweet Jason became in the end. I just wished there was an epilogue of some sort since the ending was sort of a lack-luster for me.
