With the run up to the now infamous 2000 election in full swing and with Bill Clinton on his way out my interest in politics was waning severly. I didn't see how anyone could vote for the pasty faced red neck son of a former president and I knew in my heart Al Gore was a shoe in.

Once I watched along with the rest of the world in utter shock and mildy amused horror at the outcome of the afore mentioned election I dug around until I found this particular book that details Hunter S. Thompsons coverage of the 1972 presidential race.

His hate for Richard Milhouse Nixon is legendary and his obituary for him is the kind of venom I hope no person ever feels for me. The vile disdain for Nixon shines through as Thompson cheers the demise of one possible presidential contender to the next just to see who is going to be the whipping boy for Nixon in this now infamous election. In the end his coverage and enusing near mental breakdown nets him a long time friend in George McGovern. Once...more
