another author that hasn't yet disappointed.

jane and maura, all their history, and a story that delves deep into everything we thought we knew about them. i always want more scenes of them together, but i liked seeing prickly jane again, and maura-not-perfect, and daniel all mopey. i liked the reality of this - the bizarre mystery situation juxtaposed against the mundane reality of the complications relationships bring.

so good.

(i have recorded the first episodes of the tv series based on the books. i think ask long as i don't expect the maura and jane from the books to appear on my screen, i'll be okay. i hope. i always get so disappointed. because i love maura and jane. but really, lorraine bracco is so momma rizzoli, it's ridiculous.)

i need to learn to savor these books more the first time around. though i love rereading them. still. they are so good. i love kick ass female characters, even damaged and screwed up, especially when they know what they are doing, and man, Tess Gerritsen doesn't disappoint.
