Thus far I'm learning that every film version of this novel has drastic differences. They all seem to reflect the decade in which they're made. Current events, for instance, are used to enhance the plot and tools prevalent in their era are employed to work for and against the protagonist. I'm enjoying this book so far. I'm on page 43 and so far the author has very effectively engaged me. The atmosphere is dim and you can clearly see how eagerly the main character is to survive and he'll do this by whatever means. But on the flip side, he also has this yearning to be with others. This makes him very human. I can't wait to read more...
