** spoiler alert **
I enjoyed Winter's Heart a bit more than the last two Wheel of Time books. This one was a faster paced, and most of the story lines seemed have a purpose in giving you information and details about other characters and aspects of the overall story. There was little I was uninterested in. When I first started reading, I got all excited that this book would focus on Perrin, a favorite of mine, however, not much really happened with him and he didn't show up after page 200. I do have to say, his part was the part I least enjoyed. Perrin's anxeity is making him a bit annoying lately.
I enjoyed the parts about Rand. I am starting to like him a lot more again. (Its funny how my like of the characters change with each book. For example, I used to HATE Nynaeve and would skim through her chapters, but now I find her chapters more engaging. Its not nerve grating to reahow she interacts with men any more I suppose that is a testament to how Jordan develops them). I enjoyed the part where Elayne bonded Rand to Min and Aveindha. I laughed hysterically (my wife thought I was mad). I still don't know what to make of the polygamy aspect here. What is Jordan trying to say?
I thought the end was the best part. I loved how the battle took place from te perspectives of multiple people. Also, there was now unpredictable twist Jordan threw in at the end like he does in so many others. It was interesting to seen the Forsaken so handedly fended off and beaten by a few Aes Seai and Asha'man. I suppose that is what happens when they fail to work together. Perhaps this will unite them a little more in the next book? Also, what's going to happen now that Saidin has been cleansed!?
Predictions for Book ten: 1.) Rand faces the Seanchan. Somehoe Mat and Tuon play a role in this. 2.) Forsaken unite. More chapters from the perspective of dark friends. 3.) And why not, Perrin rescues Faile. Hoorah.
