I can't help but laugh through this book. The humorous way Raine runs around trying to save her world from falling into the wrong hands is great. Usually she finds herself fighting off the 'the Stone' that has claimed her, and she is trying to keep out of dangerous hands -- kinda like the whole Frodo and the ring idea -- or she is keeping Piaras, her Spellsinger cousin out of danger, or she is just trying to keep the power hungry mages at bay.
The love stories/triangle continue and make fun highlights to Raine's tale...sporting both good and 'bad' maleness.
Most of all I really enjoy this magical world, the laws, and the mortality of it. Goblins, paladins, mages, spellsingers, (very cool idea btw - first time I have run across it) elves, and more fun has got to be in store for book 3!
