I don't usually read spy/thriller novels. I wanted to read a spy book for the seasonal challenge task 5.6 and my husband recommended this one.
It is a terrific spy novel. It is very engaging and has many twists and turns in the book and you really don't figure out what really is and has happened and why it happened until the end. This book also has characters that I care about. Thriller novels tend to concentrate on the action and not the characters and character development. I am an unabashed feminist type(I know old school term) and still really enjoy when female characters are cast as high ranking polticos-CIA Director -Irene Kennedy, the president's Aide-Valerie Jones and a female Secretary of State.
The basic plot involves the current hot button Middle Eastern terrorism and Middle Eastern relations. The
Palestinian-Jewish relations are portrayed in a complex way and more gray than many newspaper reports or thriller novels.
I skipped over some of the military hardware talk but really enjoyed this novel.
It was a couldn't put it down pot-boiler.
