by Danielle Steel
by Danielle Steel
This is the first book I have read of Danielle Steel in over a decade. I stopped reading her because it was the same story over and over with different settings. Most of her books dont come with descriptions on them, so when I was in the bookstore the other day, I was surprised to find this book with one. It sounded interesting, so I gave it a chance.
It seems she is trying her hand at a new kind of writing. She had too many details in the beginning and then seemed to cram as much info as she could into the end. This book is not typical of her "romance" novels, mostly because there is very little romance in it. I cant honestly say she succeeded in this style of writing, but she put forth an effort.
She still has the ability to bring on the tissues but the tragedies happen in this book so often its almost pathetic. It was almost as though Steel thought she had to keep them coming in order to keep the reader interested instead of just coping with the main storyline (which does get lost in the midst of the other tragedies but she refers back to the original often).
