Walt Excellent book! Although taking a hard line on Christianity, the book goes into an account of how different sects of the faith came to form two basic factions (Catholicism and Orthodoxy). There is an emphasis on the rise and development of Catholicism, as implied in the title. Freeman tries to close on the return of Greek influences with Thomas Aquinas; but this was the most confusing chapter.
