Read in July, 2010 — I own a copy

As the mother of a three year old, the first few chapters of this book made me sick to my stomach. I don't know what I was thinking reading a book like this when my son is the same age. I suppose it is the same reason we watch horror movies.

I really enjoyed the book, and I only gave it four stars because I felt it lost a bit of steam at the end. I love that the story continued beyond what I thought would be the ending point, but even so I read each chapter becoming increasingly worried that the author was just going to leave me hanging.

I also realized that I started to hate the mother character by the end of the book. It is a testament to the author's writing style to make me have such an emotional reaction. I recommend the book without reservation.
