The Fires of Heaven (Wheel of Time, #5)
by Robert Jordan
by Robert Jordan
I have a more detailed review of my thoughts on this series in my review of "Lord of Chaos", but I felt that "The Fires of Heaven" was probably the slowest, least enjoyable book in this series. Which is to say, I still generally enjoyed it, but I felt it had a lot of weak points.
I realize that the interactions between the Aes Sedai and the Aiel and Rand are an integral part of the plot, but frankly I found myself getting bored and annoyed at all the hundreds of pages regarding the Aiel politics. I found Egwene's experiences with the Aiel Wise Ones intriguing, but all of Rand's strategies and plotting with regards to different Aiel factions made me just want to skim over certain parts. I feel that a lot of this could have been condensed without impacting the book negatively.
Still, I'm going to keep reading this series until its end because Jordan has set up a very intricate world with a fascinating mythos, and I still can't wait to see how he wraps things up!
