did not like it

** spoiler alert ** I understand that it is trendy to attach Jane Austen's name to anything in order to get it published, anything from murders to monsters . . . and it's possible that some of these may have their merits . . . but here, apparently I am kind of a purist . . . I am all for reclaiming the classics.
The book jacket said something to the effect that Jane Austen would have approved . . . I wholeheartedly disagree . . . Jane Austen was a lady. And I have to admit that I quit a few pages in, in disgust . . . after a one-line sexual assault . . . which I didn't see coming . . . after assurances that it was missing from the movie, I tried again, and while I understand that the connections are kind of clever . . . it is simply not a book that I could enjoy.
