This book is for a class I'm taking on post-colonial literature this coming semester. It wasn't awful but is really not to my taste. The protagonist's earth-spirituality was overwrought and what I thought would be the most interesting part of the story (the psychological tension of being in the middle of your culture's destruction), was very underdeveloped. The book is too brief to sustain that kind of examination. Also, the book suffers from too little demonstration and far too much exposition.
