really liked it
bookshelves: mystery
Read from July 28 to September 02, 2010

If you're into the suspense and sociopath sort of mystery, such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, this is not the mystery series for you. There is something warm and wonderful about this series that I really enjoy, though. One reviewer compared it to the Miss Marple books by Agatha Christie, and you can definitely see the likeness in that sort of sensible, feminine intuition that the protagonists have in both series.

This is the second book I've read by Smith (the 3rd in the series), but I enjoyed this one far more. There's a deeper look into the various characters than in the last installment, making them more real and interesting. And I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about Botswana, but Smith writes about it with such love that you can really feel the patriotism they feel. It makes me feel like I should do some research. I'm very curious to see where they go with it in the next book.
