Despite the common consensus, I liked this. I've only read 2 books by TH, but I liked this one much better. The second I picked it up, I couldn't stop reading. I liked both Kev and Jace--Kev a little more though. I felt really bad for Kev--I wanted him to get with Andy, though that never happens. I loved Andy, and she and Kev would have been cute together--I don't know what he saw in Diane.
It's not that this book is good, really, but that it's REALLY suspenseful and makes you want to keep reading and there isn't a single dull moment. The characters aren't particularly well developed, but I got enough of a sense of them to be satisfied.
A few things bothered me. First, I wanted Kev and Jace to meet up a LOT sooner than they did, which was at the VERY VERY end of the book. I basically spent the entire time waiting for this to happen. And then there was Tyler who everyone loved...I DON'T KNOW WHY! So he spouted out big words. Big deal. He acted like a selfish three-year-old the entire book, yet every character fell in love with him at first sight. It made no sense at all.
As for the mystery part, I guessed it pretty early on.
And...there's one particular scene that literally made me nauseous--and that has NEVER happened to me before. Hoag got WAY too descriptive with the whole "sliced throat" scene. Eck.
