When I finished this book, I was so mad about the ending, that I would have given it one star. That would not have been fair, though. There was beautiful writing in this book and the author did a good job placing the story of Austen's Sense and Sensibility in modern day East coast with older people. Her description of divorce is written with tenderness, sorrow, and even pathos. I've never seen it so well done. I also liked the description of children and how their hearts still wound around them. I liked how Annie could be comforted by words she liked, like "Jalopy." Funny.

Spoiler Alert. About the ending -- I did like the twist in Annie's storyline. She stood up for herself and she was right. Who would want him after that?? But, Miranda? Come on! Can't friendship in itself be redeeming? It can. It does not have to become sexual in order to be fulfilling or life changing or whatever monumental thing the author was trying to say here. Blah. Give me a break.
