I get squirmy when other people are in embarrassing situations and Drea kept walking into them. I didn’t give up, though, so when I adjusted my perspective I could appreciate that embarrassing situations are what Drea struggles with constantly. The book takes note of casual touch and weird looks. Facial expressions are described literally and without interpretation. If there’s no making sense of these “little” things, sometimes situations are going to get uncomfortable. The AS in the book is just a detail, not the whole story, but Drea’s voice colors the whole thing and it made her life more tangible.

The book is more a story about three friends, each with their own issues. How do you reveal that deep, dark secret that’s also a huge, undeniable part of yourself? With their insecurities they’re all interesting characters and I liked them together. A sweet story.
