I really liked this book. The pictures the descriptions relate are very vivid, and yet I think this could have been achieved with a shorter book and a lot less words. It didn't really gain steam until well into the second half.
The subject of the Templars and the treasure has been done extensively, especially over the last few years. But I found this interpretation original enough to make the story interesting, and as the book was written over 10 years ago, this lends to the interest. I have not studied the subject intensely and perhaps those who have done so would not find this one unique. I can only say that I did, and it made the ending enjoyable.
I listened to the audio book, and the reading was a good one. However, given the length and wordiness of the story, I would probably recommend the book version.
