Around the turn of the century, greater emphasis was placed upon men becoming more fit and athletic. Nonetheless, a “gentleman was always a gentleman” and questions arose regarding how both images might be satisfied.

In Exercises for Gentlemen, the reader is instructed in the rewards of physical activity, coupled with proper diet, care of the teeth, nails and skin, massage and bathing techniques, as well as in the benefits of cold compresses and radiant heat treatments. Although the exercise illustrations may appear somewhat dated to our modern eyes, the exercises themselves are still quite beneficial. This book is a must for every well dressed gentleman, both past and present.
