This was a series very different than the genres that I usually seek out. Montmorency starts life as an orphan/street child in England a long time ago. That gives you an idea of how he developed into the person that he is when the book starts. Where he goes from there is an interesting read. The author is a history major and all the background events, political happenings and authority figures, and so are on are accurate. I really liked the series and read them one after another.

Note - The author's publisher has been bought out and the new people in charge aren't currently interested in the Montmorency series, I emailed the author and she said that she would like to bring out a 5th book, but the publisher has the rights and isn't working with her. If you like the series, email the publisher and let them know.
