A great primer on Mexico City, from an American expat and longtime resident. From the cantinas to the deep love Mexicans have for their vulgarities, this book covers the culture, language, and people with affection and wry humor. Reading this book gave me a nice grounding when I later visited, but it's much more than a travel book--it's a skillful free-ranging portrait of a city so multifaceted that it resists encapsulation.
