it was amazing
bookshelves: 2010, bookclub

I almost didn't make it past the first 50 pages, not because I wasn't into the story (I was) and not because the story wasn't intruiging (it is), but because it was so heartbreaking. I'm glad I kept going. I loved how the author showed moments of happiness amongst the gloom and the cast of characters is diverse and fascinating. How the main character is outed as a leper is incredibly genuine and believable. Overall, I really loved this book.

Melissa I have been waiting for this review - I am so glad you liked it! I think Lisa is going to pick it for bookclub (only because her turn is sooner than mine)
