OK, I teach European History, and this historical series of civil wars is one area I didn't know well. This book, by Alison Weir, is FULL of information about the people, battles, consequences of this destructive conflict. Weir has a good sense of what is truly important and is not afraid to pass on judgments (hers and others') of the people and their actions. She is fair and presents all sides and aspects. Informative. Also frank about the sexual escapades of these historical personages and how they impacted the history.
