it was amazing
bookshelves: vampires, ya, ghosts, fantasy, faeries, witches
Read from July 22 to 28, 2010

Where do bad teen witches go? To Hecate, of course! Witches.... Faeries.... Shifters... They're progressive, they've even allowed *gasp* vamps to join the ranks recently. Not many of them, of course. It's just a beta program of sorts. They'll see how it goes. And so far not so well. I mean there's been a few deaths at the reform school for the minors of the paranormal world. Those deaths involved blood. Who'd do such a thing? Surely no one could get into the school undetected what with all of its protections. Must be the vamps on campus.

This is what our main character, Sophie, walks into. She has a great disadvantage over most of the students - she was raised by her plain ole mortal mother. Her warlock daddy? Pfft. Never met him. She's talked to him. Phone. E-mail. Whatever. It's been her mom that's had to tell her about her witchiness. So her spells, they didn't always work out too well. No one to train her, they guessed. She risked exposing them all when her spells went berserk. Hecate it is. She'll be rooming with the vamp student. At least here among her own people she'll fit in, won't she? Settle in somewhere for the first time in her life?

This is the funnest / most unique fantasy books I've read in some time, can't wait for the next.
