The Compound is a very well written story. A family of five, very wealthy thanks to genius father who then turns out to be kooky, lock themselves into a luxurious bomb-shelter in the aftermath of the world going kablooey, where they spent 6 years. The story is told from a teenage boy's perspective whose character evolves from from a self-involved, whining rich kid into a savior. The first part of the book is reasonably paced, but the last is a page-turner. I loved the surprising, original plot. Suspense, revelations, beautifully written sibling relationships. Altogether, an awesome book.
