I watched "loudQUIETloud" on DVD. It's a documentary about the Pixies. The band formed in Boston in 1985 and disbanded in 1993 but reunited in 2004 which is where the documentary starts.

Interesting story but not the best music documentary I've seen. (That would be "We Jam Econo: the story of the Minutemen"!) But in the film, a fan brings this book to Kim Deal because in the novel, the main character is infatuated with the Pixies! So, of course, I had to get the book and read it too. The book was published in 2001 under the MTV imprint. It's a decent coming of age story but nothing that's really keeping my attention.

Her older sister's boyfriend flirts with her and then rapes her which leaves her depressed and out of it. The ending was surprising and cathartic.
