How Did You Get This Number

Didn't seem to hit the spot like I Was Told There'd Be Cake. Maybe because Sloane no longer seems like "every girl". Instead, she's moved into "chick lit" territory with the NYC setting, the globe trotting and the Confessions of a Shopaholic overspending.
Nevertheless, it was entertaining enough to finish.
Favorite Quotes:
On occasion it occurs to adults they they are allowed to do all the things that being a child prevented them from doing...Every once in a while, time disolves and you remember what you liked as a kid. You jump on your hotel bed, order dessert first, decide to put every piece of jewelry you own on your body and leave the house. Why? Because you can. Because you're boss. Because...oooh, shiny.
The wind blew but seemed less adamant about choking me...
The lies we construct to defend ourselves from humiliation are the strongest...
You can know everything about them, every detail of their childhood - every name of every hamster - and there will always be something that you can't help but view as an accessory. It's difficult to sparse out someone's formative moments from the trivial ones when you weren't there to witness either.
But the wood itself was preserved from the inside out by salt water...They are vegetative vampires - so pale they glow at night, branches sharp like fangs, not dead but frozen.
I am a firm believer in not letting disgusting things be witnessed alone.
It's not the worst thing in the world to choose to believe the bad is temporary and the good is permanent. It's just not the smartest.
