Had always thought Teddy Roosevelt seemed like one of our jackass presidents, but now think otherwise thanks to Candice Millard's loving portrayal of him as radically courageous and impressively not racist considering the times and his upperclass background. This book is also good if you long to see the Amazon but lack the means by providing many examples of how that the Amazon will try to kill you/drive you crazy.
