really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, historical, mystery, medieval, staff-pick

It's been eons since I read this literary mystery, but it has stayed with me. It had a real sense of time and place to it. It immerses you in the time period, the medieval ages, and gives you a real sense of how different people's outlooks on life were back then from our own, rather than simply transposing characters who feel modern into a historical setting like so many books do. Plus, it's a good mystery story.
