really liked it

I really liked this one. Left me feeling happy to have read it and that doesn't happen enough lately. Too often this type of book is like watching an inevitable train wreck- your gut gets all twisted in knots from the relentless tragedy. Here there was tragedy but it didn't beat you down- the overall feeling was uplifting. The writing flowed nicely with great observations on nature. Peg was such a great character. I do enjoy WWI era stories. This one gave some sense of the actual war through the letters from one of the town boys "over there'. It was also interesting to see this era from a fresh pov- here eastern Canada was the setting.
