Holland brilliantly tells the story of the wars between Persia and Greece in the 400s BC. He brings the history to life as he introduces us to the three main participants (Persia, Sparta and Athens) and tells the story of famous battles such as Marathon, Thermopylae, Salamis and Platae. For those who want to learn more about history and who enjoy reading history, this book should be on your list. Holland also briefly relates this book to current events, showing that it is no new thing for the East and West to be in conflict. Such conflict dates back to these wars between Persia and Greece, if not farther to the Trojan War itself.
