it was amazing

From the benign, or beneficial, to the catastrophic, Alan Weisman tours the world speculating (with the help of a slew of experts) on what would result if Humanity suddenly vanished from the Earth. There are also portraits of places I hadn't known about, like a little patch of old growth forest in Poland, and the semi-natural caves of Cappadocia which give a lot of great travel destinations!
Some of the scariest bits include the lingering effects of all that plastic dumped into the world, the many factories of nasty chemicals that could easily go boom, or just leak all over the place, and of course what to do with all that pesky radioactivity. Proponents of 'Crash' doctrines take note. We can't just stop what we're doing cold turkey.
