I want to throw this book at the wall. It contains more than 600 pages and it doesn't become interesting until page 500. I slogged through a heap of violence and death and a lot of journeying before meeting the one intriguing character and discovering the plot. That being said, I liked that character and the sudden existence of a plot quite a lot. The last 100 pages and the very aggravating ending made me spend $40 to have the next two books in the trilogy sent to me in the States from England. And it occurred to me to throw the book at the wall. I'm giving The Chosen 3 stars for being poorly constructed, boring and clearly a first novel. But I wish the second book would hurry up and arrive. You figure it out.

Jenn I wish I could tell you that the second book wasn't the same kind of intriguing frustrating mess. I have yet to pick up the third one, and I'm wary because it took so long to come out. New publisher, new editor, new improvements perhaps?

Michael Let's hope! My expensive copy of The Standing Dead from the UK just shipped and will hopefully arrive before I leave the States again. I could only find one copy of the paperback on Alibris and it was $36! Cheaper to order both second and third titles in paperback from the UK and have them sent here than waste that much on a used US edition...
