I am so anxious to see it finally come to an end. I think it's time LJ had Elena truly realize what has happened between her and Damon. I'd be so devastated if it didn't end with Damon/Elena finally together after 6 books. It would just be so wrong otherwise, imo.

Me too !!! But on an other side, i can't imagine how it could end up well for Stefan, which may be going to get back his humanity but still would have lost his mate if she goes for Damon ...

And i swear god, if Damon got to end up with Bonnie, i am going to burn up this book!

You know, I agree that I don't want Stefan to be sad. BUT I honestly think that getting his humanity back matters just slightly more to him than being with Elena. Don't get me wrong, I do know that Stefan loves Elena but somehow I get the feeling that he WOULD be able to live without her - especially if being with Damon is Elena's choice. I can see Stefan putting both Elena AND his brother before himself and letting them be together if it means they are happy.

But now that the author has decided to prolong the series even longer, I'm not as anxious to read this book. It's kinda getting ridiculous now if you ask me. Just have her choose already!

Oh and Marie, I am RIGHT beside you with your last comment. I can't even think about it, it's beyond wrong, imo.

Personnaly i'm thinking that on Midnight, Elena would help Damon figuring out how to deal with his new condition of being human, maybe confess to Stefan what happened that night between those two in the motel room and then make a decision ...

About that, i'd like you to give me your point of vue on what did really happenned that night because Elena is very mysterious about that !

Yes, unfortunately, LJ just released a comment on her blog that indicated that Elena doesn't make her "final" decision about who she wants to be with in Midnight. I think LJ Smith was fighting with her publishers and now it seems they've offered her another book deal to do yet ANOTHER trilogy for The Vampire Diaries. =/

The series called "Stefan's Diaries" that you're talking about, isn't being written by LJ Smith herself. That's apparently going to be the combined efforts of Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson (the creators of the TV show) and LJ is only going to be a consultant.

I, personally, think this is silly now. It's clear that her publishers are only after the MONEY that they see coming by making us wait. They know that the TV show is popular so they want to milk Elena's 'decision' in the books for all its worth (even though, the show is different from the books!) Which sucks because I don't think Elena as a CHARACTER would keep both brothers in limbo like they are making her do. =/

Anyway, about your predictions about Midnight; I do think you're right that the motel scene will definitely come into play. I think she and Damon will talk about it and admit that whatever happened between them was huge. But I don't know whether Stefan will find out until the ACTUAL last book or so (since there are going to be three more now.) =/

As for what I think did happen in the motel- it's hard to say. I have a feeling Damon and Elena had sex but if not, they AT LEAST confessed their true feelings for one another. Whatever it was, was something mammoth in their relationship and I think it will mean that Elena will question her relationship with Stefan. She loves him but she has to admit that she also loves Damon.

LJ has hinted that DE's real feelings are finally confessed in Midnight (and Damon will actually remember this time!) but as I said, apparently Elena won't be deciding to finally be with either of them until the new-new trilogy comes to an end.

It's seriously getting old now.

For the books to be continued, i truely agree that is going to be ridiculous at the end ... It doesn't fit the character to play with both guys forever ! But she might break up with one, go with the other, and so on, to finally come back to the first one ... or, one of them could get killed at the end, so no more ugly choice to make!

Well, i really hope we'll discover it soon because it's driving me crazy !

prolonging the series i belive is a good thing ... it makes it last and gives the characters a chance to grow

But the waiting between every book is crazy. It's a wonderfull story, but it must drive to an end, no matter who she finally chooses or it will lose its interest.

No story can last forever.

I personnaly think Damon is way more interesting than Stefan but LJ will make us know Elena's choice!

And the following might only be Stefan's diaries and not Elena's to be continued, so we'll finally get answers.

But I have to agree with Marie. I think there is a time for a story to come to an end and I seriously think TVD books should be brought to a conclusion before the story and characters are compromised. For example; I do NOT believe that Elena is the type of character that would knowingly cheat on Stefan but the longer LJ Smith keeps her from deciding who she wants to be with, that is how it is going to start to appear, imo. I understand that Elena is confused and as of The Return series, I find it reasonable that she has needed this time to discover her true feelings and where they lie.

BUT!

In my personal opinion, extending the love triangle any further than that by having Elena STILL undecided and pretending that nothing is going on with Damon that Stefan should know about, is just wrong. I really think Midnight should be the book where she makes her final choice - no matter which brother it is! That's why I'm so disappointed in hearing that there will be more to come. To me, the next set of books in TVD series that LJ is now writing are nothing more than a hollow way of stalling the plot just for the sake of making more money. Call me cynical but that's how I see it.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. Enjoy the books if you decide to read them! As for me, I'm not even sure if I will read Midnight now.

this isnt the last book, there is more if you look at l.j.smith's page or something but if i were you, after have reading midnight and the synopsis for the next instalment, i would read midnight first because its easy to predict some of the happenings in the book if you dont

She wasn't really FIRED, she just got signed with this fake company, so she doesn't own the rights to her own books.
And I still like the books. Hahaha, but some of the things were kinda like "are you kidding me?" But I still think they're good, and I want her to continue writing them. :P

I'm so curious to see what they are about but I really don't want to be disappointed and waste more money and time on theses books especially if they are going to be horrible. And for the show in the beginning episodes they were starting like the books but now its wayyy different. even the characters are different than described (bonnie is black, elena dark brown hair and caroline is blonde)

Aren't the books just from Stefan's point of view? But I'm not really sure because they have the pictures of the actors from the show on the cover, right?

was reading all the comments and I hope that Elena and Damon end up together as well. however from what I've been reading about the new series that will be published the reason Smith isn't writing it is because she was heading in that direction. the publishers wanted her to write an ending where Elena and Stefan are together and she wouldn't do it. So unless they decide to stop using the phantom writers and go with Smith's vision I will not read the next installment. And after reading this book I'm quite upset about not being able to finish the series because it was spot on and heartbreaking as well.

Anyways I find it hilarious they got a new author. No offence well actually yes offence if you liked these books you need better taste. Just watch the show if you dont already!! Trust me after you do you'll realize how much the books suck compared, and how much better they could have been.
