did not like it
Read from July 15 to 20, 2010

I was constantly irritated by this book. I kept waiting for a "mystery" to occur...for clues to lead to the conviction of someone else like the synopsis said...but it never came. I was gravely disappointed and bored. I felt all that was wrote was how Ellie loved to go out and order expensive salmon fillets and grilled duck and how Rob was guilty and how bad Ellie felt and waaaahhhh waaaaahhhh waaahhhh. Same thing over and over and over again until the last 2 pages in which she turns all of Ellie's bad childhood memories into the past and forgives people she felt hurt her. Oh and she gets married. And gets the dream house she always wanted. And gets the defense attorney to serve prison time. And sails around the world in 5 hours and also eats a giant blue whale all by herself. It felt like MHC was bored of writing this book because she knew it was a piece of regurgitated garbage so she decided to wrap the whole thing up like a procrastinated high school term paper. Bleh, skip this one.

Penny Never read a book written by a supa-dupa old lady ever again.

message 2: by Kim (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kim Definitely not one of her best!

Wendy I agree. Thought it was just me. I hadn't read any of her books in a long time. Thought my taste in books had changed.

Kim No, the last several years' worth have had the same themes: corporate women without common sense, radio and TV personalities, and journalists. Now she's pairing with another author. Time to hang it up, I think.

Jennifer (INnerSANITY) LOL this review made me laugh out loud! It was my first MHC book and I was kinda disappointed.. It was boring at times and I kept waiting for an "aha!!" moment which never came..

Bo Honestly, I was waiting for a different murder too. But then I realized, the synopsis said:"... she uncovers horrifying facts that she'd new light on her sister's murder. With each discovery she comes closer to a confrontation with a desperate killer". I think the synopsis is actually making us believe that there's someone else. But looking at it closely, it is just or assumptions.
