I found The Age of American Unreason enlightening and frustrating at the same time. Enlightening because it explained to me - an 80s college graduate - why I didn't get to read the classics in high school and college, why my understanding of the world around me is so vastly different from that of, say, my parents. Frustrating because she goes from being overly detailed on some subjects to not detailed enough on others. It's almost as if she just got tired of the research.

I'll read Anti-Intellectualism in American Life soon, to perhaps get a better sense of her general purpose with this book. For those who'd like to see the movie - watch Idiocracy.
