I was initially attracted to the premise of the book, i.e. the bright young thing falling in love with the wounded, lame ex-soldier with some horrendous memories of his war experience. But it wasn't well done at all. The heroine was too full of herself and TSTL in too many places and the hero underwent a sudden personality change partway through the book from an interesting tortured and cynical war veteran to a much less interesting regular guy.
