I wasn't sure if I was going to give it 4 or 5 stars, because this book is very good, but it does has one mayor flaw that I found to be annoying.
Meghan and Ash. When you think about it... What does she really know about him, besides that he's gorgeous and 'icy'? He tried to kill her several times now. I don't know but that doesn't exactly scream boyfriend material to me.
Don't get me wrong, I nearly creamed myself when I read he has a silver stud in his ear. Add the billowing coat and I'm sold. But having those kind of feelings for somebody who is still a stranger smells a little too much like Bella & Edward to me.
To give you an idea of how bad it was sometimes... I'm into romance and I go aaaawwww and OMG! every time a guy in a book does something even remotely cute/sweet/romantic. But there was a part where I laughed out loud; This was me being very inappropriate. Like laughing at a funeral inappropriate. I won't give away any details, but there is a scene where Ash is standing there while Meghan and her entourage are running through a door. When Meghan looks back, the door is falling shut and she sees Ash standing there with (I forgot the exact wording) a trace of a single tear frozen to his cheek. I think even Ironhorse would have hidden under the bed when he heard me laughing. It was a little bit too much. I know, I'm horrible. It should have been pretty and amazing and all... To me it was just cheesy, over the top and hilarious. But! *very serious face* The situation was very very grim and I did feel sad about what was happening. But that specific part... Nah. It didn't work for me.
However, I like Ash a lot and I also liked the way this book ended, even if it was pretty predictable. (yes, I'm a very complicated creature)
I adore Ironhorse. I liked him in The Iron King (when he speaks, his voice booms in my head, I love it) and now he's one of my favorite characters in The Iron Daughther. Grim still takes the lead though ^^.

I devoured the first book and the novella. I don't think there is a single person on my flist who didn't like these books, so I really recommend them. I hear this one is very good.
Totally not the point, but did I mention I don't like the covers of these books? I think Meghan looks like a 12-year old.
I kinda like it, she looks like a snow queen lolI've looked around and not all my friends likes this series..
Does the main character have anything to do with a love struck teenager dying to fall in love? =(
I stil can't pick up "Marked" series and "blue blood" series because I'm very annoyed of the main female characters...
Oh! and Wild Magic series (until now) dosen't really rely on "love" between a girl and a boy.
And I love them more because of it.
I hated Marked and I'm pretty sure I won't like Blue Bloods and I'll admit.. sometimes Meghan is a little on the... OMG I CAN'T BREATHE WITHOUT ASH side, (and it does annoy me sometimes) but enough other (interesting) stuff happens to keep me entertained. My favorite character is a cat ^^ I still think you should give it a try.
I don't mind if love is, like the core of the story, but it shouldn't be the suffocating (aka Edward & Bella) version of love. Or the abusive kind, did you read Hush Hush? The guy is a jerk and yet the girl goes swooooon every time he walks in the room.
I will, once I get my mind off of reading most of Tamora Pierce's books!! ^-^I don't mind it either but you're right, Edward and Bella was just too suffocating in every single way.
And now I'm pretty sure I won't read "Hush Hush"...
LMAO! Your reviews make me smile.I can see what you mean about Ash and Meg, but I'm hopeless.
I also get what you mean about Ironhorse. He boomed in my head as well, very effective. Grim =Awesomesauce XD
What was the funny part that you mentioned on Bookers?
LOL. Great review. Agree with Tina over there, your reviews always have me laughing. Is Ash still trying to kill Meg in this book? Aren't they onto the loving yet?

Yes. And Yes.
A heavy metal band!(okay, it was a lame comment and obvious...)
I think he's adorable in a weird kind of way.
Weelll, that Barney one was nasty, but you totally redeemed yourself once it had a black eye XD I happy. Good times.
I have to agree. The fact that Ash has absolutely no relationship with Meghan is what makes the books very difficult for me to read. I'm "team Puck" because at least he's known her forever. I didn't read the novella and currently reading Iron Daughter - I just find Meghan too Bella-like.
Haha, I couldn't give it such a high rating, but I will admit I liked Ash and Ironhorse. And the ending wasn't bad ;)
I disagree about Meghan and Ash because i think that to an extent they do know a lot about each other. Ash did tell Meghan what happened between him, Puck and Ariella, he gave up his faery life for her at the end of the book and he stayed with her in the first book even though it could kill him.... that has got to count for something! it also may just be me being obsessed with Meghan and Ash as a couple but I just love everything about them in the book flaws and all :) I was also very happy with the ending even though somethings made me upset but that is how it is with all books right! :)
Hm, you do have a point there Mary and I'm glad you enjoyed the book, even if some parts upset you :) Yes, it's just how it goes with books and I really don't mind that. I think a perfect book is one where you go through all sorts of emotions. I'm still crushing on Ash mostly (how could I not lol) so I can't wait to read The Iron Knight! <3
Pretty good book. I agree that there should be way more emotional get to know you sharing going on between Ash and Meghan...would totally make us all want her to be with Ash more. Hope the author figures that out for her next books. Overall, entertaining, but some of the writing was cheesy and cliche. But, that said, I still gave it 4 stars. :)
