This book literally took me all summer to read. It wasn't bad, it was just slow, and I was easily distracted by other books. I don't read a lot of classics because there tends to be very little plot and very heavy descriptions and characterizations. I'm a plot kind of reader, so these types of books always bog me down. That said, I did enjoy this book. I feel like it was more a social commentary than Pride and Prejudice (the only other Austen novel I've read). I could see how she was poking fun or satirizing everyone fairly equally. I wish she had paced everything a little better, though. I thought the beginning dragged until we got to the play, then it dragged again until the Crawfords started making marriage plans. The last 30 pages were the most action packed. Still, it's Austen, it's a classic, it's worth the read.
