This second book picks up where the first one "Lord of the Fading Lands" ended. Elysetta has to face her own mysterious magical abilities and the mistakes she makes being untrained in mastering them. Rain has a hard time to convince the Celierians that the Eld Mages are gaining power again and additionally he´s courting his True-mate Ellie..
Again I was captivated by this wonderful epic fantasy romance! Ellie is scared of her own powers having been raised to shun magic in every way by her mother. The evil Mages are on her heels and finally succeed to find her. We learn more about Ellie´s real origin, her parents and the reasons why the Eld Mages want to get hold of her so badly. New characters are introduced like the Dark Lord of the dahl´reisen who finds out about Ellie too and has his own reasons trying to kill her. The Queen of Celieria is an example where offended pride and snobbishness can lead and Ellie´s mother, well she´s the example that bad isn´t the opposit...more
