Never before have I actually been so a part of a character that has so little in common with me. The narrative style - switching back and forth between a true narrative and first person, memoir-like reflections on Sheriff Bell's relevant experiences - gives this book a very personal vibe. Also, because the story takes a familiar plot and does things with it that no one but Cormac McCarthy would do - this element of it I might even call haunting, because you WILL still be thinking about it long after you've finished.
