Reading Cassie’s books requires a bit of a ritual at my house. Mainly the ritual consists of me begging for a little quiet time while carrying the book from room to room and errand to errand. However, there is that peaceful moment at the end of the day when the kids are tucked into their beds and it’s just me, my pillows and Cassie’s writing. Except that there’s also my husband:
HUBS: *glances over to scan the page I’m reading* Must be a good part.
ME: *ignoring him* Mhmmm.
HUBS: Demon killing is such hard work.
ME: Mhmmm.
HUBS: *mimicking me* Page 202 is soooogood.
ME: Ugh. Stop torturing me. What do you want?
HUBS: Nothing except to tell you that you’re leaning so far over, you’re about to fall into the book.

That’s truly my review. Hubs got it right. You’re going to love this book so much that you will want to fall into its perfectly timed plot twists. Into its gorgeously written sub-plots. Into page 202-205 which my husband glimpsed over my shoulder and immediately understood why I couldn’t quite hold my balance.

As for the love triangle, well, no one can quite hit that note of nowaynowayNOWAY like Cassie. Get ready for it. You’ll be saying it a few times. But there are also lovely, quiet moments with her characters and those are some of my favorite parts of the book. Cassie balances the highs and lows of a complex plot with such a masterful stroke that it just ends too darn quickly.

Simply put – this is Cassie’s best story and best writing to date. On December 6th, pick up Clockwork Prince and you’ll be lost in a story so gripping that everything else will just have to wait.
